Debra Griffin Mitchell

Debra Griffin Mitchell grew up in southeast Missouri on the Mississippi River. She taught English composition and creative writing in high schools and colleges for twenty years, and she is a published author. As a teacher, she edited student publications and developed course work for writers.

Besides publishing poems, short stories, and articles in magazines and journals, Debra has self-published three books: In Christ Abiding, a study of John 15; The Teddy Bear File, a murder mystery with Christian themes; and A Flame Before the Lord, a fictionalized account of the prophet Samuel and King Saul. The novels are available from Xlibris Publications, an online author service. In addition to editing and writing, Debra is active in church work and education. She also enjoys reading, travel, and old movies.

Debra holds a BSE in Language Arts, MA in English, and Specialist in Community College Teaching in English. She was included in Who's Who in American Education in 1990. Debra lives in Tennessee. Debra has edited suspense novels, religious fiction, children's books, and non-fiction books about medicine, literature, and religion.
