A year ago today I made a call to Random House asking if they could recommend an editor. Yes, I figured go to the best to get the best! However, they had no idea who I was. What the receptionist did do was direct me to a web site which listed A-1 Editing Services and “someone else.” 

After placing a call to both companies I was impressed with A-1 Editing because while speaking to Nicole she detected that this was new to me. She took the extra time to not only explain the process of A-1 but the process of editing overall. For that I was truly grateful.

The novel in which I have written is very close and dear to me. I was paired with one of the Senior Editors, Dr. Carol Thoma and after working with her on both the initial edit and the 2nd edit I can say that she is GREAT!

She would e-mail me with questions rather than assuming, and by the time she finished with the second edit, she “understood” my characters so to the point that she was able to speak in their dialect.

I thank Carol for taking the time to understand my idea, relate to my characters, place her in the situations, and freely question whatever didn’t fit.

Reading through the final copy filled my heart with joy! 

I hope to work with A-1 and with Carol again, for I feel confident that we have developed a wonderful writer/editor relationship.  I would highly recommend both A-1 Editing Service, and especially Carol Thoma, for any editing job!
